Live Preview & Validation

Transforms & Logic · Updated 12 Jul 2026

Most feed tools only tell you something is wrong after the platform rejects the whole file. Ducted resolves every mapping against real sample rows from your data as you edit - so you catch problems before you publish.

The field inspector resolving a mapping against a real sample row, with per-step output

Per-step output

Open any field and the inspector shows the value for a real sample row at each stage - the raw source value, the result after every transform, and the final output. When a value looks wrong, you can see exactly which step changed it.

Sample-row stats

For the field you're editing, Ducted summarises the sample: how many rows produce output, how many come out empty, and how many fall outside the field's accepted values or format. A field that's empty on half your rows is obvious immediately.

Accepted-value checks

Template fields that only allow certain values (for example, availability must be in stock or out of stock) are validated live. Rows that don't conform are flagged with the offending value, so you can fix the mapping or add a Conditional or Transform to normalise it.

Why it matters

Fixing a mapping while you can see its effect on real data is far faster than exporting, uploading to the platform, waiting for validation, and decoding an error report. Live Preview turns that loop into instant feedback.
